It's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and finally I have some time to play along. This month's inspiration is the picture below and so festive.
This week's Papertrey Ink Make-it-Monday challenge had me looking more closely at all my stamp sets and thinking about shapes in a different way. I had not tried to build a motif before so I had fun trying to put something together that resembled a motif design. I ended up using three different stamp sets and kept myself to a Christmas theme. I added to my stamped design little red pearl drops for the ornaments on the trees. Here is my card.
I really liked all the designer samples that had white or neutral and another predominant darker color. With that in mind I thought about creating a winter scene and this is what I came up with.
I think this was my favorite challenge today because I loved the inspiration photos. It was hard to decide which one to choose. Finally I picked this one.
I do enjoy to look of stitching on a card and I like the idea of stamps that mimic this look. Unfortunately, I don't have any. Often I just use a white pen and drawn perfect short lines. Today I got out my 20 year old sewing machine and fiddled with it until I could get a couple of rows of metallic silver thread to sew through cardstock. My first attempt to sew around a circle was a disaster. So, here is a simple bit a stitching.
I rarely used multiple pattern papers on a card so Betsy's video was very helpful today. I think it will be easier for me to get a better result now that I understand the basics. Here is my card.
It was difficult to choose a pattern for this challenge because I liked so many of the designs. Needless to say I will have wonderful inspiration for future cards. I chose Ashley's pretty card because I have the dies to make this card but have rarely used them. This was a good opportunity to get them out again.
